THE COMPUSA SYNDROME

Let me explain one day a new device comes on the scene. The users start purchasing them for use at work there called Smartphone’s or now I Pads they purchase them from the local mobile phones store or electronics chain and then it begins. They walk into the IT area with a box and wires and sad face like a kid with a broken toy and ask why I can’t get my company e-mail on the thing. Hence the COMPUSA SYNDROME sets in. Unknown to you they have been back to the store, called their customer service to try and get your companies E-mail on their new toy. That is when the Syndrome hits they wanted it to work just like the bought a TV from Best Buy and want it to work instantly and you get the (I WANT IT TO WORK NOW OR IM CALLING MR BIG and all hell breaks loose. You need a plan. Take these steps to help the organization

1 Send out an email to all Sr. management about the issue and stating all new devices should be purchase with approval only. A process must be established from order to the delivery

2  Approved devices must be shipped first to the IT department working with the providers for asset tagging and then delivery of a configured device to the user. I will elaborate more during our blogging.
